Thor, Cap' and a Space Raccoon

Comic-Con : Phase 2

This concept artwork for The Guardians of the Galaxy was done by Charlie Wen

Comic-con is known for it's constant introduction of more and more new information for the nerd filled public. This year's edition has not disappointed giving us sneak peeks at Dexter, and trailers for both Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. Now in what Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, is calling Phase 2 (Phase 1 ending with this summer's The Avengers.) they introduced four movies in active developmental the sequels to Captain America and Thor, the third installment of Iron Man, and the new project The Guardians of the Galaxy. The studio also discussed Ant-Man which has been in progress since 2006 and still has no release date.

Thor: The Dark World

The sequel to Thor is being released closer to the end of the year with the sub title, The Dark World. Definitely mysterious, but it is likely something to do with a new part of Asgard that we haven't sen yet. Or maybe a new world all together. What we do know for sure is Zachary Levi (TV's Chuck) will add some more comic relief as Fandral of the "Warriors Three".

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The subtitle here tells us a little bit more about what the story line could be. In the comics Cap's sidekick Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan) is brainwashed into becoming an assassin for the Russians named "Winter Soldier". From the subtitle alone it makes plenty of sense for the to be the premise.

Guardians of the Galaxy

The Guardians of the Galaxy are a group of heroes (Alien and human alike.) that are tasked with proactively protecting the galaxy. The founder of the group is Star-Lord who is a half alien, half human space hero equipped with a weapon called the "Element Gun". Along with Star-Lord you have Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon (a gun wielding, trash talking space raccoon), Groot (a super-strong super-intelligent tree who can only say "I am Groot!") and Cosmo. (Cosmo is a former, Soviet canine astronaut with psychic abilities.)

Drax the Destroyer, Gamora and Adam Warlock were all in some way affected by Thanos in the comics. (Drax was a human who was murdered by Thanos and now his spirit lives in a alien machine. Gamora taught to be an assassin by Thanos and was once known as "the most dangerous women in the universe. Adam Warlock,an artificially created human who gets his power from the Soul Gem implanted in his forhead, has battled against Thanos many times.) Also in the comics the Guardians were an ally to Thanos, which doesn't play too well into the Marvel movie that finished but could have a tie into the eventual Avengers sequel. Leading me to believe that Thanos will in some way be related to this film but maybe not directly tied in to the story line. Meaning we will just have to wait until August 1, 2014 to see what is in store for us and that bad-assed space Raccoon.

Ant Man and Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 does not have a release date. New footage was debuted at Comic-Con of Tony Stark getting his new armor suit but then having his home attacked and all his suits destroyed.

Ant Man still has no release date. Marvel showed crowd test footage at Comic-con of what it would look like if Ant-Man where to run at a criminal, and then shrinking small enough to run on the barrel of the gun.
